122 Wind in the Sails

This chapter has a lot of screenshots and is rather long. I hope you do not mind.

When we got home, My dad and Ike got to work on Jasmine’s room. Kia brought over the things she was going to use for the baby shower and then left to do the same for Ava.

I was happy to have Ike there to help me out with Jasmine. I think she likes him more than me sometimes.

Hell, everyone was a huge help, but getting told to get some rest every time I left my room was getting aggravating.

My Mom said that it was just in a male’s nature to worry about a mother and her child.

Boy, was she right, Ike and my father would not let me do a dang thing about my child except rock her to sleep and sometimes feed her.

Ike even kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. I gotta admit, it was rather sweet.

Eventually, though things settled down into a good flow.

I was allowed even plan out Jasmine’s birthday party. Practically no one could make it because of work, and Ava was having Deanne’s party at her parent’s place. But that did not stop us from having a grand time.

I think Ike was going to cry for her birthday, he sure did take a liking to Jasmine, just as she did to him.

One night my mom told me that she was taking Jasmine to Piper’s to hang out for the night. I was confused as to why she needed to take Jasmine on Valentine’s day.

Then my father said he wanted to take me out for a father-daughter night out; and that I should dress nicely. What is going on with my family tonight?

So I dressed nice and went to my dad’s restaurant where he said he would meet me because he had stuff he needed to prepare For.

What on earth was going on?

Oh, my … Daddy’s restaurant looked beautiful, surely this wasn’t for me?

Ike stood at a table with flowers and a bright red face.

“Would you like to join me for dinner tonight? ” Ike handed me the flowers and pulled out a chair.

“I would love to, thank you .” I sat down and blushed as he pushed my seat up.

“You look lovely by the way” Ike was blushing even more.

I could feel my face go very red, “Thank you.”

We sat down to a very awkward dinner, with not much to talk about the silence seemed to carry on. Once we finished our main course we were brought out slices of key lime pie. Ike was very quiet for the first few bites, but then it was like a dam broke.

“April, I have had feelings for you for a long time now; and would like to show you how I feel.”

“You have been there for me when my closest friend abandoned me for a snobby little girl. You have been there when no one else could even get through to me. When I wanted to just push you away, everything about you pulled me in.” He got up and pulled me to my feet.

“The sound of your laugh, the way you would stand up to my smartass mouth. The smug look you would give me anytime you beat me at anything.” he touched my chin and smiled. “Your kiss.”

“Ike, this is…”

Ike kissed me,

“I want to be there for you, always. I don’t mind that Jasmine is my brother’s.”

“Ike, stop…” Instantly I seen fear in his eyes, and felt my heart clench, then soar.

“Ike I’m so flattered, but-” I had to do it, yeah it was killing him, but I had to do the dramatic pause thing,

“Did you really have to do the whole girly thing for this?” I kissed him, wasn’t juiced or anything, and to make it even better, I wasn’t the one who was shocked this time.

“So is that a yes?” Ike still looked scared but in a bit of a daze.

“That’s a hell yes, I would love to be Mrs.Ike Copeland.”

“Okay, see… here’s the thing… well, your mother said I could marry you… If I took the Ravenwood name… she was very forceful.” I laughed as Ike told me this, just thinking of my mom being forceful.
